170,000 miles
My 2002 Honda CR-V rolled over 170,000 miles two weeks ago. I’m happy to say it’s still running very smoothly and the engine is still pretty quiet. I’m still glad I made the switch to Honda back in 1998 and haven’t looked back. There will still be another SAAB in my future, but I doubt…
Hiking Black Rock
In my efforts to lose weight and get my health back, I opted for an impromptu hike nearby last weekend. We’ve tried to hike at Black Rock twice before but our timing wasn’t the best (frigid winds in the winter). I came armed with my map found at the CT DEP‘s site. We headed up…
Granite State of Mind
Those who know me, know that I love New Hampshire. This is an awesome parody. Having spent almost every summer vacation for many years in Franconia Notch, I knew quite a few of the jokes. New Hampshire tourism should pick this up and run with it.
Google Translate for Animals
If you missed Google UK’s great invention, for April Fool’s Day, here it is. Part of me would love this and the other part might get seriously annoyed by my cat’s letting me know what’s really on their minds all the time.
Experimenting with Wraps
I tried to make myself a wrap on Monday but it was less than stellar. I managed to get through half of it, but then put the rest back in the container. My wrap consisted of: Tomato Basil Tortilla Wrap Sabra Hummus (as a spread) Alfalfa Sprouts Roasted Red Pepper 1/2 Avacado Lemon Juice (added…
Alternate Sources of Protein
A big issue for me going vegetarian or vegan, is I do not love beans. Granted I like Tofu, even though too much of that doesn’t really like me. Great, the story of my life. So I’m wondering about some alternative protein sources. My sister in law pointed me toward cannellini beans which I like…
Experimenting with Food
I got The Kind Diet for Christmas, along with Chef Keith Snow’s book Harvest Eating. I’ve flirted, as Alicia would say, with vegetarianism for probably 11 years. I’ve never stuck to it. My own laziness and lack of commitment is what usually has me faltering. The Kind Diet is a step further with going vegan.…
I Want: Viper SmartStart

Universal Truths on Project Completion Times
Today my friend Kelly sent over an article from the Unclutterer website called, “Three universal truths for why projects are not completed on time”. Within two minutes of reading the first paragraph and the three universal truths, Craig and I were into a discussion about how we’ve experienced them over the years. 1. “Clients are…
1972
When going through old photos last weekend, I came across this one of my mother. I had said to her when I saw it, “my god Mom your hair looks phenomenal”. Her response was “yah but it was too hard to keep up”. It turns out this was from a family wedding in the summer…
Pink Glove Dance
I’m a bit behind in seeing this, but what awesome work from the Providence St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, Oregon. I’d love to read more on how this came together and how many people actually participated. I could definitely see Danbury Hospital doing something like this. I wonder if they’ve seen it.
Vancouver Time Lapse
Absolutely beautiful. I’m looking forward to watching the Olympics there in a few days. Vancouver has been on my list of places to visit for a while. Someday we’ll make it out there.
Groundhog Day
Craig and I were having a good discussion tonight about his take away from reading the book The Not So Big Life by Sarah Susanka. One thing he mentioned was the concept of your life being like a movie, and then having that feeling of why am I in this movie? If you’re answering with…
Tips To Avoid Creative Block
There are some great tips to avoid creative blocks over at Inspired Mag‘s website. The one I have the hardest problem with is #5 self-doubt. Which lead me to remember Leah’s post about Self-Employment: The First Six Months. She mentioned previously feeling guilty when a potential client would say they couldn’t afford her services. I’ve…

Client: Cathy Setterlin Project: Website URL: http://www.cathysetterlin.com Software: Photoshop, Coda, CSS Edit, Web Developer Toolkit, IE Tester Cathy came to me looking to design a website for her business which she was getting ready to launch. I decided to use the project as an opportunity to push myself and code a site by hand again.…
Twins
Craig’s cousin Steven and his wife Val had twins back in December. We had a chance to visit them today. They were very tiny and cute. I love watching their eyes take in the world and process everything. Liam and Kathy Catching Autumn crack a smile
Get Our Money Back
“If they can afford to pay for the high payout bonuses, they can afford to back the American people.” Ever since I read an article back in the mid-90’s about the CEO of Aetna I believe, living down in Fairfield County, getting a 7 million dollar bonus, I thought, ok there’s something seriously wrong…
