Have You Seen My iQue?
That was a question I was asking myself last week, as I waited for my Garmin iQue to return from being RMA’d. It has only taken me 7 years to fully start using a PDA (i.e. Palm Pilot). I was hot to get the first one that came out the PalmPilot Professional. I even upgraded the RAM to 1MB. It was the coolest gadget, and surely this would make my life better. Well, then I got a Palm Vx in Feb 2000 as a birthday present, wow leaps and bounds better in technology. Still I carried it around, had some games on it and my address book.
Then in November 2001 my business had it’s first significant client, and with the money from that project I got a Palm M505. Woohoo I had finally entered into the world of color. It was great. I used it more than I had any of my other Palms. Loaded some more games on there. Then I was introduced to Geocaching by a friend. I did not want to spend money on a new dedicated GPS unit, so off eBay I bought the Magellan attachment for my M505. And thus began my fascination with Palm based GPS.
I then found out about the Garmin iQue coming out. But I was a bit hesitant to buy it. So I let Ron (HondaSUV) get one first and go through all the problems with it. After I saw his, that was it I had to have one, it was far superior to my M505, could hold more maps and had audio feedback. Unexpectedly one of these wonderful gadgets arrived under my Christmas tree, and I was in total shock. But since Christmas I’ve been using it non stop, and finally at work I use my iQue all the time to manage my projects.
About a month and half ago I realized my iQue’s internal antenna stopped working and I knew I had to do what I did not want to do. Call Garmin and ship it back. Wow, I didn’t even realize how attached I was to it. Well Garmin sent me back a brand new unit and it works great! The iQue will be helping along the road trip, as it directs the way across the country.
